Purpose
Living without a sense of purpose is a malaise that affects millions. It leads to depression and aimlessness. Purpose - a combination of what is important to us and where we are going. Decide. Prioritize activities that align with what is important to you. Now take action....and you are on…
A strong moment
We aren't always as strong as we need to be. But we have moments when we are. Take advantage of them. When we have a moment where we are willing to make a decision - clean out all the junk food from the house and take it to the dumpster.…
On Death and Dying….
"People living deeply have no fear of death" - Anais Nin "It will happen to all of us that at some point you'll get tapped on the shoulder and told, not just that the party is over, but slightly worse: The party is going on but you have to leave. …
Tact
Offending people or putting them off is not a good strategy for social or business success. You need to use tact. Tact - "Acute sensitivity to what is proper and appropriate in dealing with others, including the ability to speak or act without offending." "Tact is good taste in action."…
Nervous and uptight about something that's coming?
I love reading the stoics. They have much to teach us. When a big event is coming up and we are nervous, we make it hard on ourselves. We might have some negative self-talk, or we keep saying how important it is that we don't mess this up. We may…
Being Vulnerable
You can't move forward without being vulnerable. You have to expose that you don't know something or can't do something to ask for help or take the training. You have to face the facts. You have to admit your weaknesses. Practice being vulnerable. It's ok! It's the start of moving…
Average is not a good idea
Here's another example - 500 years ago people consumed NO sugar. A few hundred years ago we started nibbling on 5 pounds a year. Now we eat 150 pounds of sugar a year on average! Average is not a good idea.
Transformation is outside your comfort zone
Since we are a product of our habits, to get different and better results, we need to ask some obvious questions. Transformative answers and transformative action is outside our comfort zone. By definition, they'd have to be, because we did all the thinking and action that was inside our comfort…
Your habits create your future
People do not decide their futures. They decide their habits, and their habits decide their futures. Today, think about your habits and routines, and how, day after day they produced results - and how those results accumulated to get you where you are today. Is it time to replace part…

This is very true. Honestly it is better to set your mind on a particular trade that you are familiar with and just go for it. Preferably while you are still in High School. My advice would be to look at what your Dad, Granddad, Uncles, cousins, etc are doing and work for or with them if possible. There’s no better way to learn a trade than with family. This will give you a huge boost in your career and open up more possibilities earlier in life. Too many Americans waste their Teens and Twenties chasing different careers and racking up debt from a college degree they may not even end up using. College is alright if you are decided about what you want to do and take courses based on your career path. But, as late teens can be a bit undecided about what they want to do, I would highly reccomend talking with your closest mentors whether they might be Parents, Grandparents or even somebody you admire or know that is in a trade. This is truly one of the best ways to have internal peace. Just make up your mind, become good at your job and you will not have to worry about providing for you and/or your families needs.
Thank you for including all of us in your purpose! We all have jobs because of the dream that you built and you make our projects possible. Come back from Baja smiling!
I have been reading these for years and many have spoken to me…this one screamed. I read it at least 15 times and I intend to act. Thank you.
