What is really happening around you, and why?

The starting point of all achievement.

Desire.  Without a desire to accomplish something, it is not possible for you.

With a strong burning desire, you can and will figure out the rest.

What do you really really want?

Obsessive Focus

When you are lukewarm about things and spread your time across many casual pursuits, you won’t accomplish much worth talking about a year from now.

But with an obsession-like focus, it’s is amazing what you can accomplish.  Just about anything…

Obsession.  Focus.

How big are you?

Got a big challenge?  A big problem?  

Decide you can handle it.  Decide that you will overcome it.  Decide that you are smart enough, tough enough, and committed enough to handle it.  Decide you will not suffer over it.

That major factor as to whether you can handle it and how much suffering it will cause, are the decisions you make about the challenge, and more importantly, the decisions you make about YOU.

Where does serotonin come from?

The natural happiness drug serotonin – where does it come from?  

Research shows 90% of it comes from our gut.  There is a huge amount of neurons in your gut and information is passed up to the brain through the vegas nerve.

Eating better may make a bigger difference in your happiness than any anti-depressant drug for your brain.

Often we suffer because we don’t accept what happens and we argue with reality. 

What if we act as if we had chosen everything that happens to us?

Learn how to learn

People who know how to get information, learn new things, and develop their value by increasing their knowledge will have a clear advantage over those that don’t.  

Today, unlike 100 years ago, we have easy access to information- an abundance of it.  So it’s not the haves and the have-nots, it’s the wills and the will-nots…

Self-Care

As I am busy tackling big goals, tending to my responsibilities, and living up to my commitments to others, I have to remember to take care of myself.

This means working out and eating right, but there is more than that.  Getting enough sleep is one very important component of feeling well and keeping a positive attitude.  

Then there is just being kind to yourself.  High performers often sacrifice for their goals and take hits in the name of progress or for others; but this can be exhausting to the mind, body and spirit.  Saying no is ok.  

Take care of yourself.  In the end, it’s the best way for you to take care of others and give your gift to the world.

The distortion of your own ego

Your ego wants to protect you from getting hurt emotionally.  So it makes you do things and see things to protect that from happening.  The problem is it keeps you from facing what you must to get rid of your fears, prejudices, jealousies, and limitations and from being free.

We all have to look through the lens of our own ego.  But turning our attention back toward ourselves to question this filter all our experience passes through and is created from, is far more productive than trying to make the world fit through our ever narrow definition of what makes us happy and why.
