Getting your butt kicked

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

While it’s not something we look forward to, or like while it’s happening, once in a while getting beat on can be a good thing to toughen us up.  I don’t mean from fighting, I mean from a big workout, strenuous work to make a goal, or some other physical or mental adversity.

If things are easy all the time, we become mental or physical cupcakes.

“Adversity introduces a man to himself.”

Mark Goetz

I love the mention here of mental adversity. Yes, one’s ability to overcome and continue to move forward is critical to success. It’s not how hard you hit, but, how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward- from Rocky Balboa.

Even a flower, when it opens its petals – moves, twists, and fights for sunlight.

Good take, Larry. I’m going to create a little of my own “adversity” this week in the form of a challenge to increase my net output. Want to be a “mental triathlete”, not a “mental cupcake”!

Andrea

Adversity introduces a man to himself.

Adversity is really not what we think it is. Adversity does not mean we have to become better than our opponent. Adversity means teaming up and accepting our opponents weaknesses while helping them become more balanced and happier human beings. Through that process we learn about compassion, creativity, persistence, kindness, team work, intuition, we learn to see the value in and accept differences and still celebrate life. Adversity is really team work where the team works towards balance.
