Ask for help
If you are struggling and don't ask for help, it means you care more about "looking bad" than about yourself. Asking for help shows you care. Besides, when you ask sincerely, people really like to help. Ask.
Misfortune – for now
When bad things or bad luck happens, it seems like a negative event in our lives, setting us back. But if we could see it from the altitude of time and comprehend the continuum of our larger journey, it will be a mere stepping stone to where we are going.…
"Whypower"
We've heard the story before. A car falls off the jack and pins a boy underneath. Mom comes over and summons superhuman strength and lifts the car off the boy. Whypower. If we have enough of it, we can do amazing things. It could be one big reason. It could…
You can't make a new beginning
So why try to change the past? You can, however, make a new ending...
It's amazing what you can do.
Sunday at 1:30 am I became the oldest person to finish the Baja 500 off-road desert race in the Ironman (it means solo, no teammates riding) class. My son and I also became the first ever father-and-son to finish the race in that class. That will probably never happen again.…
Popular is average
By definition, if most are doing it, it's average. If we don't want to be less than average and don't want to do much thinking, we can just do what is average. But we can't be exceptional that way. Right?
Livestream your life
Pretend your every move was broadcast live to the world. You'd probably do a few things differently. Right?
The insanity of the normal
Here are a few related quotes from different people to think about today. "What we call 'normal', is really a psycho-pathology of the average. It's so widespread we don't even notice it." - Abraham Maslow "It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society." In my…
Excellence in everything
"The society which scorns excellence in plumbing because plumbing is a humble activity and tolerates shoddiness in philosophy because philosophy is an exalted activity will have neither good plumbing nor good philosophy. Neither its pipes nor philosophy will hold water." - John Gardner We need excellence in what you do. Bring…
Decide and Act
Humans have the power to choose. If we don't make choices for ourselves, choices will be made for us. Choose the direction of your change and act on that choice. Be self-actualized. We become fully human by our day to day decisions and commitment to them. What choice have you made…

When your swimming in the ocean and you accidentally cut yourself on a reef, you learn real quickly how close the bottom(ocean floor) really is. At that point your realize it’s time to take a deeper look into where you really are. I thought I was fine and I’m safe seas but when you touch a piece of the bottom you learn to reevaluate and to go back to the drawing board about yourself and your business.
Taking over production was something I was hired for 6 years ago. I was told for years that I couldn’t get it done and I was moved to other departments where I was able to help each team grow. This made me feel good, but every time I got traction, another department would have problems. So someone was given my role and I was put into that department to grow it. Eventually that department came back with vengeance! and would succeed. This has happened for the last 5 years. Every year someone would say, “Dustin just wasn’t meant for production”. Well as I am growing, I try to take people with me, I try to elevate everyone around me and make them responsible for themselves and for their own “home” so to speak.
4 1/2 months ago I was put into a new role, Running all of operations (production/service). This was a big struggle because I wanted to do well and make many changes as fast as possible. We had to, get rid of some people, move some positions around and mainly, get everyone out of the department that didn’t belong and start making people hold themselves accountable. I now have a growing production department where people are happy. I looked at the numbers to see where we are,… 78% ahead of where we were last year. This is a good feeling. Because for a long time someone said I couldn’t. Now I know there is nothing holding me back.
