Taxes consume freedom

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

A certain level of expense sharing must exist if we are to have roads and schools and common defense.  But beyond that, taxes and fees, both known and hidden, direct and indirect, consume our freedom.

Don’t believe me or understand it?

What if you were forced to work for free?  What’s that called?

The only way to have more freedom and less taxes is to reduce government spending.  And there’s the problem – nobody wants to reduce spending because they have to face the voices of people who are getting cut – and they want to win the next election.  So we willingly give up our freedoms to stay on the gravy train.  In fact, few even want to talk about it.

A 1.9 trillion dollar stimulus package is just another mile deeper in the hole we have dug for future generations.

(Inner voice – “Yea but I got…”   And there you are.)

True or not true?

Very true! My CPA said I should qualify for the second stimulus package. Not taking it. It doesn’t feel right. We have to watch out for our future generations.

ralph carpinella

Yes you are correct. Bigger government makes bigger debt more wasteful spending . As all know we have trouble making America less dependent on China and other countries. We want our people to afford more so we raise min wages which caused all wages to go up then we come up with a COVID bill which we needed badly and pay people more than they make on regular wages. Result they don’t want to work cause they collect more and they don’t want to work for the wage they were making. Ie: now we can’t get people to work at all till this program is over. Less government equals less spending equals less taxes equal more competitive a United States

Bryan

Most people cannot grasp what 1.9 trillion is and that’s a problem. They see the number they understand 1.9 and think ok no big deal. What they do not realize is 1.9 trillion if placed out in 1$ bills end to end it would stretch from the earth to the sun. If they were in a roll and a fighter jet traveling at the speed of sound were unrolling them it would take 14 years to get to the end of the roll. This is an absurd amount of money. The government is using this pandemic to spend like drunken sailors to give them a reason to come back and take more of our share of earning to pay for it later.

It sickens and saddens me to see how the Baby Boomer generation has allowed this out of control Government Institution get away with such fiscal irresponsibility and unsubstantiated reckless spending. Sadly it has happened on our watch and will doom financial freedom for our kids and grandkids.

Boris Ermant

True!

William Lindberg

There is a lot of truth in your words.

Allen Nolt

So true. I wish everyone in the US could read this and grasp this. The government spending must be reduced!

Renee Daconto

This is true. The problem with how people think is there is a blanket blind eye thinking that people who don’t want spending in government don’t want to help the single mother who needs assistance or the family going through hard times. We need to change that thinking. There is a difference between irresponsible government spending just to get votes and responsible spending to help people who may need help. There has to be accountability in spending in all government programs. When their is too much spending the money is not spent on the intended purpose. The government process is broken.

William Madelung

I couldn’t agree more Larry!

Cheney

Your daily message were well written and often inspired. Now you’ve colored them with politics. Bad move. Disappointing.

Tim Funke

I’m fascinated that we are so concerned about the quality of the environment that we leave the next generation but no thought to the financial quagmire that we are leaving for them.

DAN COSMA

Larry
Often times you are so insightful, your comments show that, unlike many others, you are capable of reasoning..But this, taxes mean less freedom, is so simplistic and so shallow ! Somehow it shows that there is a little confusion about what freedom means.

Brandon Carr

True.

Lisa Schmidt & Wally Slater

Tired of being a slave to taxes!!!

Jane Miller

Well said.

William Whyte

Amen Larry. We need more conversations like this please.

Trinidad Harding

Beautifully said! I agree 100%. We owe the next generations so much more than we are providing!

John Cossey

Larry you are spot on as always!

Sarah

I’m confused as to why the economic stimulus package would be your example here. Taxpayer money being used here went to so many great things that affect us directly and so quickly; direct payments, assistance for the jobless, support for struggling parents, funds to rollout vaccines nationwide, school reopening funds, small business assistance, allocation of funds to local governments, paid leave and insurance help. How about you do a Think Daily on ludicrous spending done by our country that happens monthly, or how about we start informing people of billion dollar companies that are able to get away with skimping out on taxes (with some quick research you’d find dozens of profitable billion dollar companies that haven’t paid taxes in years like Nike, FedEx, and Duke Energy) as they just get richer and richer and the poor and lower/upper middle class suffers.

Frank T-R Braun

True

Remington

Its a good topic, and some good “I agree” comments. What is the solution though…how does this get headed in the right direction? Without getting into more politics, how do we the people (Because that’s who has to do it) begin turning the ship?
Serious questions! We all talk about the problem, I’m assuming Larry has a huge network here that can make a difference, what’s a solution? (Get the “right President” in place is not it).

Kurt Walborn

nothing is free, no such thing as free money, free labor, free stuff! someone is paying for whatever it is. (we) the working people paying taxes will pay for it. Every cent given away, is another cent taken from us who are working.

Randy Johansen

The only chance our country has is term limits for congress and senate. I have never heard anyone disagree. Why cant we get them? Answer… Corruption on BOTH sides of the isle!!!

Dan Gattuso

Bryan,
You said “The government is using this pandemic to spend like drunken sailors”. Not fair to drunken sailors,…they spend their own money! Great topic Larry!

David Starrett

Thank you Larry, Senator Janetzki sounds pretty good.

Todd

You nailed it………..stop the spending. We can not afford to keep this train going

Stephen Devine

Undo the 1.9 Trillion tax cut that Trump signed and Republicans passed in 2017 and you have no effect on the budget by the stimulus.

Drew Hirt

AMEN! Best post I’ve seen to date. I agree 100% … but will refrain from making too much of a comment here as it seems everything is over-politicized nowadays. Even economic reality.

Thanks for the post!

Willis Ponds

Thank you again for speaking the truth and telling us what we need to know. Government spending is the most wasteful way to spend money. So terribly inefficient compared to business spending. That’s why Trump’s tax cut was such a good thing. It put the money back in the pockets of the businesses who are better able to spend the money to boost the economy. And boost it they(we) did! If it hadn’t been for the “plan-demic” we would have seen record revenue numbers reported by the government. That was torpedoed though so that no one would know how well the Trump tax cut worked. My business still had to pay a gob of taxes, even after the plan-demic. But it was because we were profitable and pumping lots of money back into the economy by way of spending in our business!

Cole Tatge

Let’s keep paying the unemployed more money than most companies can pay them…so our economy tanks because businesses have to shut down because they can’t get any help. WHEN WILL THIS NONSENSE END????

Lawrence Bergen

100% True! There is a complete breakdown in the works that stems from the lack accountability (Self>Inner Circle>Outer Circle>Community>State>Nation). It starts with self. This goes hand-in-hand with your comments on blaming others is just an excuse. Great job Lawrence Janesky, tell it like it is!

Russell

Agreed

Jim Burlison (Cabe)

10X agree!

Keith Miskovsky

I would say spot on, nothing in this life is free and those who don’t believe we will have to or we will be paying back stimulus money have their head in the sand. But I have to say unfortunately, I am not educated enough to offer a solution. Thanks for the daily emails.
