A wealth of information, a poverty of attention

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

“Information consumes the attention of its recipients.  Hence a wealth of information creates a poverty of attention and a need to allocate efficiently among the overabundance of information sources that might consume it.” – Herbert A. Simon, 1971

You can’t think well when you have too much to think about, and too many stimuli such as visual and auditory noise.  When there are things to think about, study, consider or to download from your stores of wisdom and experience, reduce the information around you and swimming on your conscious desktop, and allow your full faculties to focus on the one thing.

Morning time is a natural time of day for this.
