Did anyone notice…

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

“Stupidity is the same as evil if you judge by the results” – Margaret Atwood

Did anyone notice our Federal government is 27 trillion dollars in debt and has no care in the world about going even deeper?

This means they spent 27 trillion more than we paid them trying to “take care of us”.

Can you grasp how much money that is?

We are buying votes with handouts, printing money which will cause inflation which devalues our savings and reduces money’s buying power, and spending our children’s future.

If we did that, or our business did that, we’d be bankrupt or in jail.

Spending money is a politicians’ source of power over us.  Other issues, while they may be important, are diversions and head fakes to avoid the elephant in the room at this point.

Then there is the story in your state, (and your town).

Hello…hello…

When will we care?  When will we speak out to them?  When will we stop telling them what more we want and call for responsibility and tell them to stop spending instead?  And if they don’t, when will we vote for those that are fiscally responsible?

I will vote for fiscally responsible choices when a person runs that is fiscally responsible. From what I have seen that person has never been on the ballot.

Larry. I totally agree. What a disgrace
And the 1.9 trillion bill they are trying to pass now has more pork than covid relief for small businesses that need it. Only 9% for covid relief. 91% pork. What a disgrace.

Tom McKee

Well said Larry!

What ever happened to “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country”?

Cindy Davis

Truth!

John Cossey

Couldn’t have said it better Larry! The things we need like term limits, welfare reform, lobbyist reform, and overall fiscal responsibility won’t get you on the ballot. I’ve said it for years that the best person for leadership of our country (whoever that might be) could most likely never get elected because people want the shiny thing but don’t want the responsibility of paying for it. Therefore we are stuck with useless politicians who are more worried about saying the things that will get them re-elected instead of doing the right things for our country.

Matt Stevenson

AMEN!!

Well put Larry. Unfortunately it may already be too late as forward obligations of the federal government are even greater than 27T. To put it in to layman’s perspective, I ask clients to estimate how long in time is just ONE Trillion seconds. The answer is 31,709 YEARS!

Mike Mitchell

I have referred many to Think Daily and am grateful to have a good resource to which to refer them.

The National Debt is staggering! On top of that it doesn’t fully reflect the obligations. The actual total is much higher. A couple of things on that:
1. There are inflationary pressures building and they will surely come. For every 1% increase in the cost of money, the annual expense (assuming the debt doesn’t increase and it unfortunately is increasing), the added annual expense is $270,000,000,000. That is money we don’t have and money that won’t be available for other expenses. Let’s say that interest rates increase by 2% – a likely scenario. That equates to $540,000,000,000. Divide that by 330,000,000 US population and it works out to $1,636/person. That works out to $6,544 for a family of four. That is every year. That is the cost of a great vacation, or saving for college expenses. It never goes away unless we actually pay off the debt.
2. People are very complacent by how much they are paying in taxes. This is because of the stealth nature of the withholding. I really wish that people would get their full paycheck every week (or two) and then have to turn around and immediately write a check for the taxes – right there on the spot. There would be a revolt when people put it in this context.

I’m with you and this isn’t aimed to be political. I join you as a Patriot and want to figure out a way to create a positive agenda to which people can aspire and rally.

see O’Rourke’s “Parliament of Whores” — politicians sell out the country because voters will approve if they think they’re getting a disproportionate amount of the sale proceeds.

It is disheartening to see our plunge into Communism.
There’s more slight of hand going on than most realize. Unfortunately there are big, unwanted changes coming that we are helpless to stop. https://youtu.be/GUJMj6xQ6Ew

Oh, I do notice. THeir perspective is likely: It’s only $7,500 per person (if divided by 360,000,000,000 people) and, only equals $225 per year per person at 3% interest. Still, the point is that they are leveraging our future taxes paying ability and what’s worse, it’s also the very reason that giant corporations get tax exemptions to stay in America. Love your posts!!!

Jayne Kelly

Perfectly stated, Larry!

Willis Ponds

Amen Larry! The problem is we have nearly passed the tipping point where the number of people on the take is more than the number that are productive. The politicians find it easier and easier to buy votes. And then one day “Atlas Shrugged”?

Tim Garrett

They are already trying to figure out how to spend the covid relief in Hartford, I`ll bet they are going to lower our taxes. Right?

Brandon Carr

I noticed, and I’m very concerned.
