Hero worship

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

It’s ok to have heroes. It makes you spend time trying to be like them.

Look up to those you admire, respect and where you see qualities you want to develop.  Those “heroes” are simply people who are modeling behavior and lives we want to emulate.  The more we can learn from them, the easier it will be for us to do it too!

(Just don’t forget to be you, not them.)

We are located in El Paso, TX- Southwest corner of Texas. Corner of New Mexico, Texas, Old Mexico. We hire a lot of spanish speaking individuals. As we grow we want to help them grow as individuals. Would you happen to have a spanish version of Masterpiece CD.

I think it is very important to mentor others in your field or profession. I always got a great deal of satisfaction mentoring others in my profession of nursing. As a Director of Nursing, I always asked my employees what they wanted to be doing in five years, when I gave them their evaluations. Then together we would make a plan on how to achieve this. Sometimes they said, “I want your job!” OK- we still made a plan. It was always rewarding to hear from employees who made a point of calling me to tell me they had achieved their goals.

Hero Worship is a slippery slope. Are we admiring the qualities that we should be trying to develop? When does Hero Worship become Idol Worship?

I’m reminded of a line from a song by tobyMac, “America has no more stars, now we call them idols.”
