The Problem with Democracy

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

The problem with democracy is that it wasn’t designed for the ignorant.  People that don’t know what the important issues are and don’t know what they are talking about, or even worse believe something that is false, have a vote just as powerful as the most accurately informed and educated.

The politics of today are not to educate people on the facts, but to take advantage of the people’s ignorance by filling the gaps with falsehoods and fear and sending them to the voting booth.

Can we be good citizens of a democracy if we are ignorant?

Tony Gechele

You are spot on.I believe that it is our duty to educate those misguided citizens in our lives,to keep our country great. We will always have to fight to keep our freedom.

Lisbeth D Toth

Our education system is designed to produce workers not thinkers

Russ Gresgon

Bravo! Well spoken.

Pete Burgess

Democracy can also be described as “mob rule!”

Gail Zorpette

Excellent and right to the point. You can’t discuss or argue with ignorance!

Jeff Nelson

I guess we need to define “accurately informed and educated”, where do we reliably find this accurate information? It’s not the news stations, papers, or radio they’re all slanted right?
We also need to determine what the “important issues are”
Are all the people who do not agree with our particular position ignorant? If someone has an opposing viewpoint does this make them uneducated? Tricky…

John LeVan

Amen

Timothy Ferraro

Phillip
