Set up your environment so it is hard to do bad things.
It’s hard to eat bad food if it is not in the house. It is hard to spend time on social media if you delete the apps. It is hard to wear clothes that don’t look good on you if you get rid of them. It is hard to be on a screen at night if you don’t bring them into the bedroom.
Set up your environment so it is easy to do good things.
It’s easy to workout in the morning if you lay your workout clothes out on the floor and have your workout plan written down. It is easy to eat well if there is good food in the house. It is easy to read good stuff when it’s the only thing on your nightstand. It’s easy to monitor your weight if the scale is front and center in your bathroom. It’s easy to call people you love when you set reminders.
Preparation outperforms willpower.
Set up your environment for the person you want to be.
Love this Larry, thank you!! I keep saying the phase “eat now for how you want to feel in a few hours” that I remember reading in one of your Think Daily. Very powerful and I’ve been using that everyday and feel a lot better during the day!
Absolutely agree with your thoughts on this. Make it easy to do what you know you need to do and make it hard to do what you don’t want to do and you have helped prepare yourself for growth and goal achievement.
