What is your purpose in life?

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

What were you called here to do?  What difference will you make?

Mine was/is to make a difference in the home repair industry.  To improve the service, the products/results, and the jobs for homeowners and employees, and to be the steward of what I have created to make sure nothing bad happens to it.

What is yours?  Can you answer the question – what is your purpose in life?

It is NOT a contest to see whose is bigger or better.  It is a calling that fits your particular talents and mind.  One that you find hard to resist.  One that is of benefit to the world because you were here following your path.

Try writing it down now.  See how clear you are.

My purpose in life is to make others’ lives better. I have known this purpose since I was a little kid when I wouldn’t get a Christmas present because we were so poor. I was more worried about my brothers and sisters not getting a present and never gave myself a thought. Oddly enough, I knew then that i would have to try my best to give my circle of friends and family a better life. I feel like that is my greatest accomplishment.

My purpose…to love my God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. And to love my neighbor as myself. To use the gifts I’ve been blessed with to further His kingdom. Have a blessed weekend y’all and Larry, thanks for all your postings, they are a valuable source to start my day.

Mine was to make a difference in health care related to death and dying. I started the first Hospice in-patient unit and helped write the regulations in Florida.

My purpose in life is to create peace and stability my life and people around me. I’ve always been anxious and depressed since I was a kid, and I was blessed to learn at a young age how great it is to connect with others by helping them, whether by talking, laughing, feeding them, surprising them with art or music that alleviated some dark feelings, etc. I used to think my creativity was my purpose, but helping and connecting with others is what made me creative at all. I hope I continue to find opportunities to help others.

I believe our sense of purpose evolves throughout life. Looking back, between ages 18 and 30, my purpose was very different from what it is today. Now, in my later years (60+), it feels much more defined and meaningful.
My primary purpose is caring for those closest to me, my wife (a cancer survivor), my disabled brother, and my mother whose health is declining. These responsibilities come before anything else and is the #1 purpose.
Personally, and professionally, my purpose is to focus on continuous improvement, being better each day than the last, and learning from past experiences. I strive to share those lessons as a mentor to my teams and colleagues, helping others grow while I keep growing myself.
