Mental Energy is Finite

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Your brain’s highest-level thinking uses serious resources.

Tackle your most important decisions when you are fresh and avoid draining your mind with distractions.

For me, my best work is in the morning.  If I start checking email, talking to people, returning calls, and putting more issues on my mental desktop for the day, my brain’s ability to do good analysis, deep thinking to make important decisions, and to do creative work is shot for the day.

After a good sleep cycle is the best time for my brain to do it’s best work.

How about you?

Same for me. Tackle the big intense stuff in the morning and the rest is gravy.

Regarding best times to do things in your day; here is a fantastic read/listen:

Daniel Pink – When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing

It taught me a lot about myself and helped me sequence my day for success.
