If the horse is dead, get off.

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Persistence is necessary to accomplish significant goals.

Anything worthwhile will not be easy.

But there are some things you can persist at forever and you will never be successful.

You have to know when it’s not you that is the problem, and when it’s not worth persisting.

If the horse is dead, stop trying to ride it and get off.

Brandon Carr

“You don’t get extreme results without extreme actions.”

Willis Ponds

Sometimes this is a very tedious balancing act! When to persist and when to move on, that is the question!

I’d love to hear about a few specific examples in your career that represented “Dead horses.” Were the dead horses, certain people in your org? Or more like product types? Or vendors and trade partners?
