Notice your thoughts

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Most people notice their thoughts – they become them.  Me too.

But it is a higher level to notice them without being them; to be the thought observer.

You understand that you are having a thought but you are detached from it.

You see it, allow it, and recognize you are the thinker, not the thought.

Then you let the thought go away.

You are still here.  You didn’t go with it.

If you get good at it, you can unchain yourself from your unproductive, painful thoughts, and become master over them.  You can choose what to allow and not allow.

This is really big.  Try it.

Be the observer of your thoughts.  Rather than “I am…”, say “I can see myself thinking…”, and then choose to accept it or let it go.

Your thoughts drive EVERYTHING in your life.

Take charge.

Thank you, Larry!
The Power of Now- Eckhart Tolle
The Untethered Soul- Michael Singer
These two books are fantastic!

Larry,

At your recommendation I listened to The Untethered Soul (5 or 6 times now). I just listened to Living Untethered and learned so much more.

Thank you for being a mentor to me.

“I have lived with many Zen masters, all of them cats” – Eckhart Tolle

Tolle’s book “The Power of Now” was one of the most mind and soul opening books I have ever read. Not a book to memorize but to understand. Truly grateful for the chance I had to learn from it.

Aaron Stull

This is a powerful message today.

This was a surprise email, only because I think of Basement Systems as a product/service. Now you’re providing an even more valuable service, mastering one’s mind. I am acquainted with Singer and Tolle. You might enjoy John Kehoe and Dr. Lisa J. Miller, too.

Good stuff, sir. Thank you.

I appreciate the array of books that you recommend. Emotional maturity is very important and undervalued in our culture.

Kevin M.

I’ll try this out. Never have before, so I am curious to see how it works.
