“Fat Chance”

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Today, some highlights from the book “Fat Chance: Beating the Odds Against Sugar, Processed Food, Obesity and Disease” by Dr. Robert Lustig.

The book is a bold science-grounded exposé, revealing how sugar isn’t just a sweet treat but a metabolic disrupter fundamentally reshaping health.

“Sugar isn’t a neutral snack – it’s toxic.”  Lustig argues that sugar, especially in its refined forms, acts like a poison, rewiring the body’s biochemistry and fueling obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

“Calories lie – the type matters.  A calorie is not a calorie when it comes to sugar, as it triggers hormonal imbalances like insulin and leptin resistance that hijack hunger and metabolism.”

I know – we all love sugar.  But that’s a problem…

And it’s hiding in everything—not just the obvious stuff like sweets and soda. Food that was picked from the ground or does not have a wrapper or container is a sure fire way to cut down the sugar intake.
