“Imposter syndrome is real and it arrives whenever we are doing important work.” – Seth Godin
Imposter syndrome is when you doubt yourself and feel you are inadequate, not supposed to be here, aren’t good enough to do this, and feel you don’t deserve to be successful.
You won’t feel it when you are doing the same thing you have always done – you are an expert at that. It shows up when you are out of your comfort zone, doing some higher-level work, breaking new ground, and doing something for the first time.
I have walked on stage in front of 1000 people doing keynote speeches, lined up at the starting line on a dirt bike for a 1000-mile race, and flown airplanes by myself – I know all about this feeling.
But remember – if anyone can do it, than anyone can do it. And if they have done it, they have done it the first time. If you want to, you can too.
All growth is outside your comfort zone. Growth is not for sissies. It takes courage.
Control your thoughts, believe in yourself, and keep moving forward.
You got this!
Right on!
I was at one of your keynote speakings at Comfortech. I bought your book and have been a follower ever since!
Great advice- thank you. I feel this doubt in myself a lot, but I keep telling myself that feeling are not facts.
well said LJ
Hey Larry!
This is good stuff! Thanks for sharing
Good one!
This one was great. Really encouraged me to keep challenging myself.
I remember the first time I had to speak to a large auditorium full of people. My knees were actually knocking. But I gained confidence and got better each time.
You have to “go for it”- You can do it. Thanks Larry.
Thank You Larry! This really hits home. I needed this one today. What makes it even better is that it came on my birthday which always seems to turn into a day of reflection.
