Choose a different set of risks

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

We are wired to weigh risks and not take them if we can avoid it.

But the short-term risks are far more visible and easier for our mind to perceive than long-term ones.

The idea that if we make a given decision something we try may not work out today is seen as a risk.

But the risk that 20 more years goes by and something amazing won’t happen is not perceived or given much weight at that moment.

So you play it safe today to “avoid risk”, mistakes, and discomfort.

By taking the long view and courageously choosing a different set of risks, you can eventually live something amazing.
