Multi-tasking causes mistakes and it's slower

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Play a little game with me.  Say your ABC’s out loud.

Now count to 26 out loud.  Those are two examples of mono-tasking.

Now say the first letter of the alphabet and the number one.  Now the second letter and the next number.  Now the next and count it all up to 26 like that.

That’s multi-tasking.

If we focus on one thing at a time it’s faster and we do better mistake-free work.

Right?

Brilliant. Thanks for saying it.
And, thinking that you are multi-tasking when communicating with someone is totally disrespectful to that person as it says “You are not worth my full focus.”

Cheers.

This concept really evolved how I work. I used to think my productivity was based on how many things I can get done in a day, and multi tasking was the key. Now I realize it was the lock! Thanks Larry.

Sorry, I lost my thought when I got to F, 6
