"Burnt for the day"

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

I don’t know about you, but this is what I experience on many days.  When I wake up my mind is able to do deep creative work.  But if I go to my email box or start talking to people about this issue and that, and go through piles of stuff on my desk, my mind starts flitting from this to that, zinging at a superficial frequency, – one where I can’t access my best creative mind from.

It’s hard to get back to doing “deep work” again. I’m burnt for the day.

Creative work first.

SOOOOOOO True!!!!!

I agree completely. Do not let your inbox and those distractions create your mood for the day.

Tom Matthews

Totally agree. So many writers I know and have read about start their day early and let the words flow. Many of them wrap up by midday then give their creative minds a rest.

Mike Mitchell

Absolutely agree. For me the best way to do this is to start early and not even touch the in box until completing the creative work. Get the right 2 or 3 things done first thing every day and it is great for accomplishing the big goals.
