8-5

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Work too much? No time for other people or things? “I don’t have time?”

Yes, you do. 8 – 5. That’s the time.

That’s all the time you need to do super cool stuff, deliver value and make your dreams come true.

You have the time; as much as anyone else. Prioritize it.

Hi Larry,

I just wanted you to know first that I love your Think Daily columns, both personal and business. Your business column today was really thought provoking. I am a small business specializing in high-end custom homes. We are mostly a management company now with very little self-performed work. During the hours of 8-5 I am typically out managing my jobs and interacting with the various trades and customers. That doesn’t leave much time for actually running and building the business. Producing a good product and making customers happy are my #1 priorities. I have always been under the impression that in order to run my business I will be required to work after hours, at least until I am large enough to either hire someone to take my place or hire someone to build the business. I have not yet seen a way around this but am I missing something here?

Thanks for this! I am constantly challenged by prioritizing my day and working too many hours. Not cool for my family or health! I’m a HVAC business owner.
