Become a better you

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Just because you’re the owner or leader or manager doesn’t mean you don’t have to keep learning and growing.  In fact, it means you must.

What do you do each day to become better?  To learn more?  To become more valuable?  To become more capable of getting the results your organization seeks?

Tell me….

I am still a fan of old school books … you know the paper ones. Right now I am reading the “15 Laws of Invaluable Growth” and I just finished reading “How Successful People Think”. I also read a great deal of leadership books. People are the most important asset a company has and they can also be the biggest expensive if they are not pulling in the right direction. Leadership is something overlooked by many successful people, never forget to lead by example. Walk around, pick up the phone if it is ringing, take out the garbage show your people you will do anything it takes and they will know you expect the same from them!

What is everyone else doing to grow?

What is everyone else doing to grow?
Made me think about nurturing maternal instincts in an article that analized the differences in female and male thinking and managing paterns from a team building and leading perspective. Women think about a business and its employees as their children so they build and lead a bit differently than man do.

While I worked on completing the Human Resources online certification last year, I read many forbes artices on this topic. Unfortunately, unintended rivalry has a way of surfacing and igniting the battle of the sexes instead of utilizing proven skills and capabilities to a business avantage (based on previous research and experience).
