A great leader makes life and death decisions that affect the direction of the future.  But if you’re feeling powerless and hopeless, you won’t make these decisions but rather accept erosion and slow death.

There’s something in YOU holding back necessary action – and you need to find it, call it out, and dissolve it.

You think everything will be ok, and you hope it will be ok by itself. 

But it won’t be ok by itself.  You’re just not upset enough to do what you know you need to do to fix it.

So wait…You’ll get there.  Hopefully before it’s too late.

“Go there” today and stay until you fix it.

Do it first, talk about it later

Some leaders like to talk about their grand plans to employees – which is fine.  It gets everyone engaged and active in helping make it come true.

But be careful – it gets their hopes up, and if you don’t follow through, it’s a letdown.  How many times can you do this before they think you’re full of pookey?

Do you announce grand plans of things you WANT to do so that you can partially experience the rush and adoration you’d get if you actually accomplished it in advance?

Change doesn’t take long

Change is instant.  It’s deciding to change that we draw out and suffer with.

Waiting for it to get bad enough for you to say, “enough is enough”; when the pain is worse than the change, is prolonging the agony.

Change is instant.

Conquering the world

You can conquer the world. 

But you have to conquer this day first.

See the future

If your business was perfectly constructed and accomplished all your goals – what would it look like?

What are annual sales?  How many employees do you have?  What products and services do you offer?  What is your net margin?  What does your facility look like?  Why do people buy from your company?

While things can change along the way as you learn, having a crystal clear vision of what you are trying to build will help you get there a lot faster.  Daydream, doodle, draw, and write it down.  Then go for it each day.

Notice faster

It takes some of us way too long to see what eventually becomes evident to us over time.  Other people may have seen it long before we did – and maybe they said something and maybe they didn’t because we were the boss “and we must have our reasons”.

No.  No good reason.  Just blind, foolish, comfortable or not enough guts to change.

Notice the results you are getting and what changes have to be made faster – and take action.
