Control and Trust

There is an inverse reationship between control and trust.  There more you try to control your employees or customers, the less you will be trusted.

Are you seeking “control” over them?

It changes when you do

Your habits and daily agenda were made by you for a life you no longer have or want.

Be the person you need to, to attract what you want now.

Zombie Employees

Do you have employees that quit but stayed?

This shows a lack of leadership.  Why did they check out?

What are you going to do about them, and others that may do the same?

Get better – or else

Your competition is getting better all the time.

Learning is not something you HAVE to do.

Neither is survival.

“Controlling” Employees and Customers

As business owners, leaders, or politicians, do we have to “control” others?  (How’s that working out?)

Or, do we strive to “influence” others?  How do we influence them in such a way that they want to be with us?  Add value to them, build them up, help them get what they want.

Do you continue to grow yourself personally so that you are able to add value to others?

“Comfortable in your mess”

Do you think it’s possible that some people would rather struggle than be successful because they are comfortable with it?  That their routine matches their self image, and it’s comfortable and familiar, no matter what the results?

New results require a new you.

You are not your business

If you attach your happiness to whether your business is up or down, you are making a mistake.

Your business is not you.  This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t set goals, take on challenges and care deeply about what happens. But in the end, win or lose, it’s a game.

You are much more than that.  Much deeper.  Much more important.  You’re here to help others, and a business is just one way to do that.  

Keep going, but know you are seperate from the game.

Why are my people resistant to change?

Maybe because you don’t communicate with them enough about it.  Maybe because you make it scary for them.  Maybe you leave them with too many questions.

And maybe, just maybe, you’re more resistant to change than they are.

Zoom out and think

You’re so close to it all the time that you can’t see all it’s dimensions and dynamics.

Your one of the parts inside the imperfect machine.

Step back, rise above, zoom out, observe…and think.

What is success?

Is it a place?  If so, where is it? 

No. It’s not a place – so you can never “get there”.

It’s a journey.  And you don’t have to get to the “end” of this journey to be a success.  There is no end.

Success is continual personal growth – the progressive realization of worthy ideals and goals.

Are you a success now?
