When Strengths Become Weaknesses

Everyone has strengths and weaknesses.  When it comes to employees, we should not try to fix their fundamental weaknesses – it’s not likely to happen.  Instead we should put them in a position where their strengths are valued.

For an entrepreneur – a leader of a 3D organization, it’s very different.  Your fundamental strength in marketing or sales or production or innovation got you started.  But a business needs have have multiple healthy functions to thrive, and it will become obvious that the founder/leaders strength or it’s corollary has become their fundamental weakness.

A leader needs to grow personally in order for their business to grow.  Either learn enough about your weaknesses to make them strengths, or learn enough to recognize strengths in others that fill in for your weaknesses and be smart enough to know what to ask them to do and how to measure their performance.

Are your strengths also your weaknesses in growing your businesses?  Still?

Rear View Mirror or Windshield?

Financial Statements are rear view mirrors – what happened in the past.  They tell us how our past actions manifested financial results in the past.  They do not ensure future results or predict them – you do.

Looking ahead, using imagination, and trying new actions will give us new results.  When we look ahead, we should do so with the wisdom that our financial statements give us about how what we have do so far is working.

Know where you’ve been, and create a new even better future by changing what you are doing today.

There are great people all around you.  You know the ones – focused, friendly, and sharp.  Your friends, relatives, neighbors, and friends friends.  So what if they already have jobs….of course they do.

Why haven’t you asked them to work for you?

The people in your organization are not likely to be more committed to climbing the hill than you are.  As the leader of your organization or department, are you 100% committed to making the changes necessary for excellence?

Better You = Better Business

You’ll make your business better by making you better.  By making you better you will improve your ability to idintify and work on the few key things you need to make your business grow.  If you don’t grow, you’ll keep doing what you are doing now because you think it’s what you should be doing.  But to get different results you need to lead the company differently.

Work on you and become the kind of leader you need to be to get the results you say you want.

Strain-Reaction

Take it from me, you can be burnt out and not know it.  If even you know and admit it, you are WAY burnt out.

Entrepreneurs don’t get paid for putting in hours, but for creativity and problem solving; and you can’t do that if you are wiped out.

Take time off, and you’ll do better when you do work with a higher net result.

I WANT to work

It’s something that many people won’t understand.  Yes, I love my time off – of course.  And when you have a goal that you WANT to achieve, you WANT to work towards it.

Loving working and loving time off – now there is a happy rewarding life!
