We want to make money, sure.  But if we set out to make money first, it won’t happen.  Instead we have to have a passion and drive to create value for others by providing an exceptional product or service.  When our customers want to trade their money for what we offer, then it is a matter of pricing it higher than our cost, or delivering it at some fraction of our price.

Write it on your calendar or to do list.  Then put a big #1 next to it.  Then work on it and don’t do anything else until it is done.

When we increase sales by a dollar, by the time that dollar goes through all the business processes and cost to deliver the product, we increase profits by 10 cents.  But when we decrease costs by a dollar, we add a dollar to profits.

Many “Innovations” are not new ideas, just new to your industry, or new to your company.  Some ideas may be in use now in other areas of YOUR OWN company, just not in your department.  If you were the first human being to think of it, or just using it for the first time yourself, that doesn’t make it any less useful of a business accelerant.
