Agreed ! I sometimes ( often:)) forget to keep my eye on the target! Bold, uncomfortable moves towards target will get me there and keep it in focus.

There is no advantage or disadvantage “You just run harder and faster than them.” If you’re the largest competitor you still “run harder and faster” or eventually someone will catch up with you too because the larger you get the more responsibilities and work you have to do to stay on top. Everytime they catch up with you, you already have your next 10 steps laid out, stay unpredictable. We came into a market as a fresh no name company 8 years ago. This year we will have $13m more revenue than our largest competitor they were a great company and had their corporate office in our town for the last 50 years, and we were a no name. Never get comfortable. “ABG”, Always Be Growing! It’s really not hard with all the support and tools we have.

The Government taught our kids how to think through the school systems and now does it surprise us that The Government is viewed as the solution to every problem! I’m having my 8 year old home schooler listen to Larry’s ep “Talent” on iTunes and he loves it! Thanks Larry

I will go into the office early (added bonus I don’t get caught in traffic). If I need a lot of quiet time I will take a day to work from home.

I am very luck to now have a home office. It is really about the only place I get quiet and can think. Typically early morning is a great time, or I structure the day to come in to the office late.

I certainly can do very little concentrated work at our company office.

It’s great to “have permission” to separate and get the thinking work done!

Hi Larry,
I use that expression in a different fashion in coaching and mentoring with most salespeople and business owners.

I use “Whipsawed by Distraction” for quality salespeople when it usually means that something personal is troubling them and shows up as if the business is the problem (and it is not usually their business – although that is where they will feel the trouble lies). In my experience, if I coach to the personal issues when business activity seems to get stagnant, business mode most often soon finds its path to solutions and positive growth.

I have also found that most quality business owners have learned to handle the ups and downs of business and its stresses quite well when their personal lives, and they also, are in balance. However, when personal lives get “complicated” or a fundamental drawback in their personality “re-surfaces” and they don’t recognize it, business seems to become a burden instead of that excited adventure that it usually is.

Those personal ‘complications’ most often are what I refer to as “Whipsawed by Distraction”.

I’m thankful for an amazing wife to share this life with, family (especially grandchildren!), freedom, health, business, forgiveness of sin, Downin Lane Quartet, Pleasant View Baptist Church and the list could go on and on. Larry, I was just studying this last night then I read this think daily this morning, Pretty Cool

Philippians 4:12 “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” NIRV

And then we all should know the following verse Phillipians 4:13; “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”

I am grateful for “ALL” because it is only mine to borrow for a short period of time.

What don’t I have to be thankful for? It is a much shorter list.

Live life with a thankful heart and every day is a gift!
