Be nice
Be nice to others on your way to the top because - 1) You should 2) You need the cooperation of others to accomplish your goals 3) You may meet them again on the way down 4) It makes the ride more fun Be nice to others.
Leadership is leverage
You can only do so much yourself. Being one person is a limitation. But by owning an enterprise and hiring other people, you can get far more done - IF you lead them well. Are you getting more done by leading others well?
Compound Interest
Is today better because of what I did yesterday? Is what I am doing today going to make tomorrow better for me? Is what I am doing today going to make next month better for me? Is what I am doing today going to make next year better for me?…
Prosperity rests on a moral foundation
Doing the right thing is always the right thing to do, and always comes back to you. What can you do for your customers that is even more virtuous than what you are doing now?
"Minimum Effective Dose"
I run a School for Contractors called the Contractor Nation School of Entrepreneurship. (thesoe.com) The purpose is to teach the owners to be better thinkers, so they can be better leaders. I think my life has been unfolding for me to do this the entire time. I love it. As…
Listen to the wise voice inside
I don't know about you, but every time I ignore my inner wisdom, I make a mistake. Have you made decisions that were contrary to your intuition? How did that work out?
Avoiding the God complex
As the owner of our business, we have put ourselves in the position of leader - the one who calls the shots. Gone wrong, this leads to "I know everything and you will do as I say." This, of course, limits our progress to the boundaries of what we know…
What would cause your goal to come true?
It's not enough to say "Our goal is 20% growth this year." First, it's too long term for anyone to be motivated to change their behavior. Second, it's impersonal. Why do all team members care? Third, 20% sales growth is an effect, not a cause. Instead, we have to ask, "What…
Competition is the opposite of creativity
Are you competing with other companies in your industry by doing business the same way they do? By offering the same thing they do? By having a company structure the same as theirs? By treating your employees the same way they do? By communicating and advertising in the same channels…
Courage is contagious
What are you enrolling your employees into? "This is hard"? "I'm frustrated with this"? They want to know you are optimistic, have a plan, and have this thing under control. Courage and confidence are contagious.

I was given advice of this nature very early in my career. It is important and easy to do. Always look forward to your daily messages and really enjoying the adventures of the Baja on the companion site.
So true. I wish more people would adhere to this!

Be nice to others. Should be a given but unfortunately it is not. Taking that extra moment to listen, smile, and be nice can make all the difference in someone’s day. Thanks for the reminder!

Exactly how I remember her!
Thank you !
By going back and reading all your available posts I feel that I know so much about you and your family but seeing a picture of your parents (is that your dad in the picture next to your mom?) has a sobering effect. Because of all the reading and traveling I did in these past couple of months I feel like I live in multiple levels of reality at the same time where it is very easy to lose track of the “real” world around us. Communication is important because through it we find out how very simmilar and fragile we all are.
