Suffering is optional

Got problems and difficulties?  You are alive and in business – of course you do.  Did you think it would be different?  And the bigger the thing you are trying to accomplish, the bigger your problems.

But you have a choice – to suffer or not to suffer.

I will be in a 40 hour non-stop 900-mile off-road race on Nov 20-21, that, win or lose, will not end well for me.  I will prepare the best I can, stay present, take one moment at a time and do my best.  I will practice not suffering, even if it hurts.

Negative self-talk, worry, negative anticipation, complaining, and whining….

Your life needs white space

An entrepreneur’s life is full.  There will be no free time or downtime unless you make it so.

Practice the art of strategic nothingness.  It’s ok.

Hit the reset button so you can think clearly.  Thinking clearly after all, is how you direct the actions of yourself and others, and how you make your money.

Moderation leads to moderate results

If a leader’s attitude and ambition are moderate, and his/her sense of urgency to solve problems and move forward is temperate, then the company may survive, or it may not.

Bring the zest!  Bring the passion!  Bring the urgency and will to win now! 

Be the cause!

Nervous about public speaking?

Stop thinking about you.  Instead, be there to help the audience.  Honestly try to use the time you are up there to give to them and make their lives better by sharing what you know.

The audience knows when you are there for them – and they will appreciate you for it.

Struggling leader – Struggling business

If the leader is stuck, the business is stuck.  If you own the business and insist on calling the shots, then you better get unstuck by learning a lot more from the right sources, and feed your ego by building others up instead of controlling it all yourself.

You may think you know how to run the business you have, but do you know how to run the business you want and don’t have yet?

How do you know how to lead?

Just because you started your own business and therefore put your name at the top doesn’t mean you know what you are doing.  Just because you got a promotion to a manager or leader doesn’t mean you know how to do the job.  You have to study – constantly.  Improvement has no finish line.

If you are the leader and your job is the same each week and month, you are probably not working ON the business to transform it into something it is not today.
