Funny thing about having a great facilty..

People want to work there.

You can’t just do an ROI on an investment in a great facility using rental income.  There’s much more to it.  

With the right building, better people will come, they will be more productive, behave better, and stay longer.

Can you measure it?  Hardly. 

Is it more valuable than the building itself?  Could be.

The thought always preceeds the fact.

That’s why it’s so important for leaders to see things right.

99% of the job is to learn lots of things, know your people, know your craft, know your competition, know your costs, and study what is happening now and the results it is getting.  

1% is making the right call on what to do next.

You can’t do good thinking that leads to good decisions if you aren’t doing the work to see things right.

A wealth of information, a poverty of attention

You can’t think well when you have too much to think about, and too many stimuli such as visual and auditory noise.  When there are things to think about, study, consider or to download from your stores of wisdom and experience, reduce the information around you and swimming on your conscious desktop, and allow your full faculties to focus on the one thing.

Morning time is a natural time of day for this.

Harmonize inside with outside

“Work-life balance” gets talked about and thrown around, but who’s to say what the balance must be?  I say you are.

So instead of worrying about balance, think about harmonizing who you are inside with what you are doing outside. 

If you feel something is wrong, there is.  If you feel it’s working, it is.

Are your inner and your outer in harmony?  What do you need to do to make it so?

Learning from each other

One man has something worthy or valuable to say and makes marks on a page.  Later another man comes along and looks at the marks, and can tell what the first man was saying.  

This is a principal way we get better.
