It’s what you don’t see, don’t watch, don’t care about, don’t pay attention to; that which obscures your best – that may be the most important to you unleashing your highest self.

Sunk Cost Bias

When you have lots of time, training, effort, and money into an idea, even if it’s not working, we tend to not want to give up on it. 

No matter how far down the wrong road you are, when you realize it, you have to turn around.

Me and my team have purchased or partnered with many companies and we are getting fantastic results.  One thing I see is that we can look at a situation and make a decision that the leader thus far has not made or has been too slow to make.  The reason is that they are emotionally attached to the previous decision or person.  Being outsiders, we are not. 

We call it like we see it without the sunk cost bias.  This is why getting help with your business or your life FROM THE RIGHT PEOPLE can be very powerful and save years of time.  

The funny thing is, I am subject to the same sunk cost bias as anyone else with my own business (less and less as I get smarter I hope).  When it was your idea in the first place, your hire, your friend…well, we just don’t want to admit we were wrong.

Sometimes we hold onto mediocrity because we think it will be worse if we cut the cord on the idea or person.  But that’s just fear.  We will never get the chance to really fix it if we don’t abandon the course to try a new one.

Where it is just not working for you?

Great ideas need wings – and….

Some business people are not very creative and produce less ideas than they should.  Some produce lots of ideas – more than they can truly execute on.

Great ideas need wings – and landing gear.  Ideas themselves don’t produce or solve anything.  You have to execute.  In doing so you’ll find out if it was a good idea or not.  Many ideas solve a problem and produce more and different problems.

In trying to solve those problems you come upon new ideas and new solutions.  

Are you light on ideas (better get reading, watching and hang around some new people) or heavy on ideas and light on execution?

Solitude releases genius.

A creation of importance can only be produced when its author isolates himself.  It is a child of solitude.

Well rested, unrushed, no distractions….releasing your mental power to create.

How often do you go by yourself inspired to solve a problem?

Worrying about your legacy?

Have you?  I know I feel like I’m failing some moments or some days.

It’s normal.  High achievers get outside their comfort zone and do things they have not done before. They are not good at those things yet and feel incompetent.  Sometimes you are growing and haven’t worked all the kinks out yet and it feels like things are out of control.   

Winners are losers who kept on going.  Winners didn’t always feel like they knew exactly what they were doing or what to do.  Great achievement looks great when it’s done, but it’s foggy and messy getting there.

If you feel like you are firmly in control and have it all together all the time, you probably are playing it safe and small.

Believe in yourself, take care of yourself, keep learning – and keep going!
