In our quest to accomplish our goals, and our haste to get it all done, can we remember why we are doing it?
If we accomplish all our goals but leave people we dealt with along the way hurt, poor, or bitter for us having touched their lives – what good is it?
We are not responsible for all others, but if we hurt people in doing good for ourselves – it’s a sign that what we are doing isn’t right.
Do it right.
“You can make promises for a long time as long as you don’t have to keep them.”
I can really relate to this statement . As a leader I have always tried to do the right thing. I have tried to speak the ideas in my mind into reality. One of my employees spoke honestly to me recently. He said, I am tiered of hearing about all the things we are going to do and not seeing any action behind your words. You see I had great intentions and wanted to do all the things I spoke of, but did not fully engage in the planning. I have exasperated good employees with this process of speaking before planning. My actions in the past got people excited and hopeful and then after a while discontent and even angry at me for offering hope with no meat behind my words. Now I am working on planning before speaking. In other words doing my job as a leader instead of a speaker.
