“Everything of value is built on trust” – David Horsager
If people trust each other, they do business with each other, make it easy on each other, and do not need the expense of policing each other.
Building trust takes lots of time and repeated trustworthy behaviors.
Destroying trust takes a minute. That’s the fast way.
But there is another way trust can break down. The slow way. That is too little communication.
I have found this to be true. People I once trusted, or who once trusted me, fill in the blanks when they don’t hear from you enough, or on key issues. You didn’t do anything wrong except not communicate enough or in the right way, or personally.
Trust takes time to build, but it must be nurtured or it erodes.
Call people. Especially those you trust.
