Love – The greatest leadership tool – PART 2

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

The Purpose of Life

We have talked about this before in the SOE. As entrepreneurs we can lose our way and become someone we did not want to be if we lose sight of the purpose.

If you ask someone why they’re doing what they’re doing, and keep asking, you’ll eventually get to the same answer. Let’s try it.

So in this case, this person is planning a meeting with their people because it’s ultimately part of feeling worthwhile and being happy.

Let us not lose sight of being happy as our goal. Our daily activities are part of being happy, which is our ultimate goal.

I just read Tanner’s response above and wanted to share my thoughts. I think being happy can mean a lot of things. For me it doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m walking around smiling, whistling and basking in the goodness of life. For me Happy would be more aligned with the Webster’s 1828 dictionary definitions, some of which are: “Fortunate, Successful, Prosperous, Blessed, Harmonious, Peace of mind in the favor of God”. My own definition would be something like, “Content and satisfied with my current status in life.” I’m happy with where I’ve come from, happy with what I’ve accomplished, happy with what I’ve learned, happy with my marriage partner, happy with my children, happy with my relationships with those closest to me, happy with the things I own, happy with my current trajectory, etc, etc… I believe our purpose in life can be to be happy, so long as our definition of happy is meaningful and includes the happiness and well being of others as a prerequisite.
