Do less

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

My friend Kevin Koval sent me a video of this guy who broke down 30 years of productivity and time management books into a short list.

His first recommendation?

Do less.

People who want to do a lot try to do MORE things, and that leads to stress, (burnout), doing low-value things, and feeling like you can’t get it all done.

So it’s counterintuitive for most, but DO LESS instead.

Put no more than five things on your to-do list for the day.  You will do them better and have a better experience.

Of course, for maximum productivity, make those five things the MOST important things that will have the greatest impact on you and your business, short and long term.

I like it!  Recently, I had a string of days where there were only 3-4 things on my to-do list – and they were important things.  I got them done well, had good days, and wasn’t stressed that I had so much that I did not do.

What about you?

I am working on it, and getting better at it. Do you have a link to the video?

i try to do 100 things or more everyday for 20 or 30 years …. i need to constantly remind myself that I can’t . Of all of the ideas Ive gotten from Think Daily over the past 10 yrs +/- i now catch myself telling myself (an others)
YOU CAN DO ANYTHING , BUT YOU CANT DO EVERYTHING

Chris

Excellent advice, Larry! I am a big fan of the to do list. Thank you! And loved that pic of you jumping your bike and the sun behind you. Sweet!
