Why do I feel good about myself at work?

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Because –

People care about me and what I do.

My manager notices my good work and recognizes me formally and informally.

I get to contribute ideas and people listen.

I don’t get attacked for speaking my mind.  I can call it if something is not right.

I work with good people who are also giving their best.

They invest in me with training and I feel good when I know how to do my job well.

There are high internal standards here.

There is little if any gossip here.

I feel people here are behind me and have my back if I make a mistake.

I know what is expected of me and how it fits into larger company goals.

I feel good about myself at work.  I’m staying, and I’m going to give my best.

Hi Larry,

Your advice first thing in the morning helps me stay on track to reach my primary goal. Thank you!!!

I think it’s terrific. A nice lift some days and challenging on others. I feel less alone when I read them. Encourages me to engage with the people in my company, in productive ways, when sometimes I tend to just want to resolve things alone and not trouble them with our company’s challenges.

Gave the book “The Highest Calling” to a friend of mine(82 year old contractor). He retired (broke)around 70 only because of health reasons ( rough career..as we all know) . Marshall was my Cy ! But..I didn’t realize it until Dave Bryan sent me the book to read. Marshall’s brother was a huge concrete contractor, and very wealthy. Marshall would tell me not to follow as he did, but as his brother did. I never understood what he was saying because I was so busy working “in my business “. Until SOE, I never put it together! Life got in the way for 8yrs, and I didn’t talk much with him until one day recently, he just showed up! It was then I realized he was my CY! He has 2 sons himself that he gave up on, but never gave up on me. The very next day, he texted me “ where was this book 40 yrs ago?” 82 yrs old and texts! Didn’t hear from him for two more days…..then he texted……” when the student is ready, the teacher will come “ I almost fell over! Marshall would show up at all my jobs and give me these one liners like…“listen to people, they will tell you who they are” or “your a busy man…but on the wrong things!” or “ every board every nail!” (Meaning you will have to show employees where to put the board and where to put the nail every time until you properly train them!) I told him “all these years I wasted” his response was the same thing Larry said, “your not dead yet”! He handed the book back to me the other day…with a tear in his eye! He said,
“ this book is the only way, this is what I’ve been trying to tell you!” I told him to pass the book to someone else that you see needs help. He thanked me and said “ your heading in the right direction…never give up!” He said he never got it, even though his brother would try to show him. I gave him Think Daily business and personal and told him to join and give to his 2 sons. He’s a very sick man, and I wish I would have spent more time with him. But as he said “ im not dead yet!” :))
Sorry for the long story….but I think it should be told 🙂

I look forward to reading Think Daily for Business People, truly. It’s a great restart to a new day or week. Thank you for sharing, and your abundance!

I absolutely LOVE “Think Daily” and would be lost without it’s inspiration and insight. I followed the Baja 1000 Ironman from start to finish and felt like I was part of it. If Larry can accomplish this amazing goal, I can accomplish my goals as well. Thank you and please keep this going.

HEY there. I appreciate the daily messages of wisdom! Learning never ends and while all messages contain important info , some really hit home and keep me thinking throughout the day and beyond. Thank you for the encouragement.
