I was at one of my offices and saw this poster with a quote from this guy named Larry J something or other.
It said “Success is not what you get, it’s who you become.” I’m pretty sure he got it from Jim Rohn or something.
I had seen the quote before, but it was a great reminder.
We aren’t taking anything with us. Maybe whoever dies with the most friends wins – or whoever had the most lasting positive impact on others wins. But it’s not a competition with anyone else.
We do all this to see who we can become through it.
That’s why.
It’s the personal challenge to see how good of a person we can become.
For all your efforts and goals, wins and losses – who are you becoming?
“You don’t always get what you want, you get who you are”
Thank you, Larry. I am also appreciative of you and the network you have built. Over the last 4+ years I have certainly made changes for the better. Those changes, both personally and professionally, are in large part a function of all of the contact I have had with you, the network and looking inward. Introspection was never a problem for me, but over the last 4-years I have been asking myself better questions, I have disabused myself of self-limiting thoughts and I have demanded more of myself because I know more is possible. I have also been getting better at overcoming fear. All of this, and more, has helped me grow as a leader. Although there is still much, much work to do, I feel a higher degree of control in shaping my future. Thank you.
100% Success driven by virtue
