You are running on an old version. You know the results this version produces.
If you want better or different results, you have to update your operating system.
Learn something new. Update your beliefs, your habits, your routine, effort, focus, and attention.
I love this. Recently I upgraded my operating system (eating, exercise and sleep) and I feel better.
I control the inputs and the results change. Wow!
I am in charge. That feels good.
How about you? What change does your operating system need?
Over the last year I have made significant changes to my operating system, most notably on the personal side. I created a code of conduct for myself, which I read daily and do my best to live out. I have notice an improved mindset and the ability to overcome challenges. I also am in better shape now (46) than at any other period in my life. Sleep, diet and exercise are the main areas of focus, and in that order. I protect my sleep. I didn’t watch much tv or sports anymore, but I gave it up completely…which has allowed me to get 8-9 hours daily. Sleep is the foundation of everything. I always had a pretty good diet, but I made the commitment to eat the same healthy food 80% of the time (travel or dinners out being the exception). I chose the food on its nutritional value and decided to change my internal dialogue about the food. It is fuel first, taste is far less important. Lastly, I recalibrated my fitness routine so that it was challenging, but allowed for recovery. I started with the end goal in mind and backwards engineered the weekly protocol. Like all things, life can get in the way. The biggest change was adopting an 80/20 mindset around all of this. I used to look for perfection, and when I would miss a day it would generate a negative feeling that could get me off track. I strive for hitting these goals 80% of the time, which gives me some grace for when life intrudes. The funny thing is that I do far better with the 80/20 mindset than I did when I strove for a “perfect” week/month.
