A leader is always a bit miserable if they are good.

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

It’s a Paradox.  We are reaching for something we will never attain – if we are good.

When get to the top of a mountain, we realize it was only a hill, and can see another higher mountain in the distance.

If we are ever satisfied we stop.  But we are not the kind of person who is ever satisfied or we would not have begun in the first place.

But we must not let continued desire for what we do not have yet make is completely miserable.

We have to balance being happy in the present and proud of where we are based on where we started, with enough dissatisfaction of where we are based on where we could be.

We can’t let complacency or frustration ruin us.

“Learn to be happy with all you have, while you strive for all you want.” – Jim Rohn

Are you in the sweet spot of this tension?

David Drescher

So true Larry! Have learned that I’m just not going to stop dreaming and striving for more in all areas of my life. Each time I’ve achieved a large goal that I thought would be a stopping point for my internal drive, I was wrong.

Jeff

Ohhhhh, now I get it! I appreciate this one, that really helped me understand my miserableness, PTL! now I know what to do with it, change that miserable energy into positive energy for joy in the present and motivation to learn and get better for more joy in the future!…it’s like my spiritual walk i can be miserable in how hard it is to not be a sinner or I can rest in the fact that Jesus has already achieved my sinlessness, therefore I can have joy and peace in connecting with Jesus daily knowing, that by making my goal to connect with Jesus minute by minute, will connect me with His sinlessness. Jesus said, ” Come to Me all who are burdened and heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matt 11:28-30

Also wondering what happen to the “sign up a friend” tab to think daily? It seams now I can only share a single message.

Dave DeCicco

What an honor to receive a shout out! And I agree that good leaders should always be operating outside, or on the fringe, of their comfort zone because that is where great things happen! It also sets an example for others that complacency is not only where growth and learning stops but begins to atrophy.
