Control your squirrel brain

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Your squirrel brain can’t focus on one thing longer than 30 seconds.  If you want to solve real problems well, you’ll have to focus longer than that.

Control your squirrel brain by –

Reduce your visual inputs.  Clear your desk of everything else or go to a clean table.

Eliminate interruptions.

Shut your phone off or put it in another room.

Simplify your visual environment – don’t have too many things to look at.

Put all other work that is calling you away – only have on your desktop the important project you are working on.

Try a different room just to get fresh thinking going.  Go where you are inspired to do that work at that time.

Eliminate noise.  Quiet the room and quiet the mind.

Stillness is the key.

I find morning is best for focused time.

Now focus, think, and get something important done.

I read these daily(as they were intended.lol) but, I am never any less amazed as to how hard each one hits me and is relevant at that very moment with something I’ve been thinking or struggling with. Today I am thankful for You

Perfect advice! I’ve posted this on my desk as a reminder. Thank you!

I spend 10 mins organizing my desk an other items which helps me with getting clear on the next hour or so that needs my undivided attention.

Thanks Larry,
You taught me this at some point about 15 years ago, it’s more relevant than ever in my life.
I think of the top 100 things to learn in life, to share with friends and family, and to promote to employees – most, if not all of them are in your compiled “Think Daily” blogs over time.
For me, some of them aren’t necessary in my life right now, some have helped in the past and as you continue, I am sure that some idea will impact me in the future when I am ready for that particular message!
Keep it up and know that you are changing the world, one shared idea at a time…
