There are only so many years we will see.  Our body is changing. What did we do with the last year we have been given?

What should you do with the next year?  Only you can decide.

What can you do?

That depends on what you believe you can do.

And what is that?

Buy low, sell high

When it comes to investing, most people get it wrong.  They wait until prices are so high because they have gone up so much, and it seems like they will go up forever, then they buy.  Then things go down, and they fret and hold, hoping they will go back up, until prices are so low that they can’t stand it anymore and then they sell.  So they have bought high and sold low.  

Buy when most are selling, and sell when most are buying is the right way to do it.

If you want a change, don’t run away.  Run TOWARD something better – a distinction that makes all the difference.

While we like to look outside for the people/entities/circumstances that hold us back, the reality is that we are what’s holding us back.  

While our ego doesn’t want to hear it, this is good news; because if we don’t like our situation, we have the power to change it.

Overcome the opponent.

If you know what you want, keep learning, are nice to people, work hard to add value to others lives, and don’t give up, eventually you will be successful.

That’s how it works.

Peace on Earth

Violence in our everyday life is at its lowest point in human history, even considering all current wars and all crimes reported in our efficient media.

That’s something to be thankful for.

Fund the students, not the schools

Many public schools are good.  But in some are not.  Should we have a society where only the well-to-do can afford a good education for their children? What if we gave the money to the kids and told them they can go to the public school or any other school they wanted, so long as they go to school?

When schools know you have the power to leave, and when you do the resources go with you, they tend to change their behavior.  Either that or many private schools will fill in the quality gap.

There’s lots of reasons to be nice in any circumstance.  If we harm others, it will wreck our own self interest.

What is “Libertarian”?

You probably know what Democrats and Republicans are.  There was a time when I didn’t know what libertarian was.  It sounded like “liberal”.  (In the rest of the world the words “classic liberal” means what “libertarian” means here in the US.)

Libertarians believe in individual freedom, free markets, limited government, peace, and personal responsibility. It’s not strange. Many see it as an alternative to left or right that feels comfortable against their own ideas.  If you were interested you can easily look up more.

I thought I’d use Think Daily to tell people about it, because most people have no idea.  I promise not to make Think Daily a political forum.  Think Daily is about ideas and you – and many important ideas also happen to be political topics.

How old are you?

Are you where you expected you’d be?  In ten years from now, where will you be?  Will you be where you expect to be then?

There aren’t many decades to waste.  Better get going.

Who’s “the man”?

Who’s the big out of control leviathan?  Is it me, or has the “stick it to the man” (corporations) crowd become “the man” (big government controlling money confiscated from others)?
