Purpose of life

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Albert Einstein was asked, “what is the purpose of life?” He replied, “We are here to serve others. What other purpose can there be?”

Einstein has also talked about being happy as the major personal aim we all should strive for.

Serving others with our unique gift will certainly make us happy if we do it in the right way.

What do you think the purpose of life is? Do you agree with Einstein?

I’m hard pressed to be disagreeing with Einstein but I’m an old follower of Ayn Rand. I believe we are here to be the most moral and productive self we can be.

Very first purpose – serve God/save our soul

You will get everything in life you wish for if you help enough people

We are absolutely here to serve others!

I have been involved with my local Chamber of Commerce for many years and it brings me so much joy. The Chamber (non-staff) roles are unpaid, and essentially we serve the community.

Thank-you for everything you do Larry.

@Sharon Leichsenring I agree with you, but I believe that service aligns with those values. The 20 & 30 something me spent many years chasing things I thought were important only to find them hollow and unfulfilling. At 41, I understand my place in this life is to serve others. Whether you believe in Karma or a higher power, meaningful life doesn’t begin until you stop focusing on yourself and start helping your neighbor.

The purpose of life is to be happy and grow. It helps us to evolve and survive 🙂

I believe if the hierarchy is followed in life we can be the best servant to others. But it must follow in this order.
1: our own soul.
2. our family.
3. work & others around us.

As you can imagine if we are not free of conscience within ourselves or have turmoil in our own heart, how can we be a patient father or caring husband, brother or sister ect…
Likewise if its not going well at home, how does that affect our work life or those we try to serve in public? We have to take care of and nurture the most important things first and the other things will fall into place. 🙂

Hi People

Yes I agree with Einstein! I live my life trying to be a positive influence on everyone around me, my family, my friends and co workers. That makes me feel good.

It is a movement to drive this country forward with purpose, not politics.

Roy Spence is amazing. Larry, he would be a fantastic speaker at your Contractor gatherings if you haven’t already had him speak.

Serving others to be happy is a great golden rule to have.
Being a Christian, Christianity being that God has put us here for a reason and then gave his only son Jesus Christ to come and live among us showing love, compassion, serving others and then dying for us on the cross and having been resurrected so that we may learn from and go on to be deciples of the one and only messiah (the only man ever that said “I am the truth”) and bring as many as we can to Gods kingdom so we may all enjoy eternal life in heaven is what I believe our purpose is.
Life is hard here on earth and we must work to be better human beings and use our talents to the fullest so we can make the most of this very short life and be grateful and happy doing it.
How sad would it be if this was all we had to look forward to. Let’s love, laugh and accomplish as much as we can and then enjoy eternal life together.

Josh Lowe hit the nail on the head ! That’s what serving others is supposed to be. God rewards us for this type of service !

Eph. 2:10

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

It’s up to us to do right by others because of what he has done for us. That’s why we are here.
