Move to a new life (part 1)

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

You know the story about someone who just picks up and moves to a new town, and lives a whole new life? One that may be fresh and exciting (at first anyway). Why is their new life so new and interesting?

It’s because they have completely changed what their cameras see and what their microphones hear. It’s all new and interesting. They live in a new place, get new friends, a new job, and see new things. And the new people don’t treat you like your old friends and co-workers where you came from. The new people don’t know you yet or have experience with how you behave, and the places and job don’t have those old psychological anchors (memories) like your old places did.

But wherever you go, there you are. You are the common denominator. Eventually your beliefs, expectations and patterns of thought will craft a life pretty close to the one you left behind. You can’t run away from yourself.

The great news is you can have a new life without rolling the dice and doing something as drastic as picking up and moving away…
