When disadvantages are advantages

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Many of us say we have disadvantages that put us behind and make it harder for us to be successful.

A poor family growing up, dyslexia, a physical handicap, a less than ideal school, a tough neighborhood, friends who made really bad choices, rough parents, and so much more.

Sure, these things may be no fun at the time, and for some, leave a mark forever.  But perhaps more often, what these conditions do to us and how they shape our character can be considered strengths.  You can be more resilient, smarter in that way, or street wise. While one personal characteristic is missing, others are sharpened. Or maybe you just know what you DON’T want and/or have developed a burning desire for what you DO want.

What “disadvantages” did you have?  How are these advantages now or in your future?

Good morning, Larry and everyone else!

Yet another great thought to wake up to and with that, another chance to make the most of today.
I wanted to leave a comment about your Masterpiece CD, Larry. For anyone that is wondering whether or not they should listen to it, know that I listen to it every single morning the second I get into my car. Some folks like to drink coffee to kickstart their day, for me it’s Larry’s Masterpiece CD and even though I hear it every single day, It hits home after every single track.
My favorite thing about the It is that it doesn’t matter what you do for a living or where you are in your life, there is a motivational and inspirational message for everybody that takes the time to listen to it. If you enjoy Larry’s Think Daily emails, you are going to love this CD. The worst thing that can happen is that it will replace your Starbucks coffee in the morning.

I grew up poor. Sometimes the only thing in the house to eat was bread. We’d make ketchup and Mayo sandwiches. However, we didn’t know we were poor, it was just the way life was back then. This taught me that I don’t need a lot to be happy. Count your blessings, there’s more to life than stuff.
